Frisco EDC Names Harry Whalen Director of Business Development

(October 9, 2014) – With North Texas soundly in the spotlight as an economic powerhouse, the Frisco Economic Development Corporation (FEDC) adds a new staff member this week to help seize the opportunity for continued corporate migration to the region. Harry Whalen joins the FEDC as director of business development. His specific focus will be pinpointing companies that may be considering the Dallas-Fort Worth area as a relocation option in the wake of a number of high profile corporate moves recently announced. Whalen will also assist in international business attraction efforts.

(September 9, 2014)FRISCO, TX Dozens of highly-qualified economic developers applied, but Dave Quinn, CEcD, demonstrates the innovative leadership needed to serve as the next vice president of the Frisco Economic Development Corporation (FEDC). Quinn joins the FEDC team at a time of robust commercial and residential development in Frisco. The fast-growing, northern suburb of Dallas now has a population in excess of 142,000 with a current annual growth rate over five percent. Within the city’s 72 square-miles, more than 16,000 acres of land are still available for development.

Quinn will directly supervise most of the professional staff in the FEDC office; but more important, he will help enhance business attraction and retention, and marketing practices for a global audience.  He begins his vice president role on October 1.

Premier Venues to Headline Entertainment at High-End Development

 FRISCO, Texas (August 27, 2014) – iPic Theaters and Pinstripes, Inc. will headline entertainment at the Wade Park development in fast-growing Frisco, Texas, announces developer Thomas Land & Development. The expansive 175-acre mixed-use center located at the Dallas North Tollway and Lebanon Road will be anchored by Whole Foods Market, merging upscale retail, fine dining, entertainment, hotels, commercial office space, and residential housing. The project broke ground earlier this month.

(Frisco,TX–August 22, 2014) Ground was officially broken today on the site that will be the new World Headquartersof the Dallas Cowboys and Frisco’s Multi-Use Special Event Center in 2016. The City oFrisco and the Frisco Independent School District, in partnership with the Cowboys, celebrated the event this morning.The team is expected to make the move north to Frisco in 2016.

A multi-use special events and sports facility, to be developed on a footprint of approximately 20 acres, and the Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters, on a footprint of approximately five acres, will be the center pieces of additional property that has been designated for mixed use development. In total, the project will consist of 91acres located at the northwest corner of Warren Parkway and the Dallas North Tollway.

July 9, 2014 --Several highly qualified candidates applied, but John Bonnot stands out as the top choice for the Frisco Economic Development Corporation’s (FEDC) new director of economic development. The hire comes during a commercial and residential boom in the second-fastest growing city in America. With approximately 18,000 acres of land still available for development, the FEDC needed an additional staff member to focus on business prospects   interested in developing in, and relocating to, Frisco.

"The pace in this office isn’t just fast, we’re operating at turbo speed right now,” said Jim Gandy, president of the FEDC. “John Bonnot brings more than 25 years of chamber and economic development expertise that will allow him to make a quick and successful transition to his new position. He will be a great ambassador not only for Frisco, but also for the entire Dallas - Fort Worth region.”

Area employers have access to a highly educated workforce of nearly one-half million within a 10-mile radius, including more than twice the national average for key information technology occupations. AUSTIN, TEXAS, May 21, 2014 – Frisco has an estimated workforce of nearly 500,000 people within a 10-mile supply area. Frisco and the region area are also home to a high concentration of information technology workers, with more than twice the expected number of software developers, computer programmers, systems analysts, and web developers. That’s according to Austin-based TIP Strategies Inc. The consulting firm recently completed a comprehensive analysis of the labor market for Frisco, Texas, a fast-growing community located 25 minutes north of Dallas. The analysis provides a detailed look at the characteristics of the regional workforce and shows the area’s occupational strengths are well-aligned with the industries Frisco targets for recruitment like telecommunications, software development and financial and medical services.

Award-winning steakhouse opens its 12th location

DALLAS (April 16, 2014) – Perry’s Restaurants, a family-owned group of award-winning steakhouses, will open its 12th steakhouse location this November.
Perry’s Steakhouse will be located at Stonebriar Centre at Preston Road and SH 121 in Frisco. The new restaurant will accommodate 350 guests and include design features such as a towering wine wall, four private dining rooms, an island bar, main dining with glimpses of the kitchen, and an outdoor patio.
